When news broke yesterday of Nick Brendon’s passing, I was so sad and shocked.
Within the Buffy fandom, it’s no secret that Nick has had a lot of struggles since leaving the show. However, Xander Harris has always been one of my favorite characters on the show, and for that reason, I have always rooted for Nick, hoping he’d get the help he needed to battle his inner demons and get better. I don’t know if he was ever able to fully do that, and that breaks my heart for him, and for his family.
I created this piece this morning, in memory of Nick and the character that introduced him to me. It’s called “The Heart”.
Rest In Peace, Nicky.
